Decision making for Flatfeet correction is complex. There are soft tissue and bony correction that often needs to be done in isolation or in combination. Moreover, there are many different options for bony correction. There is a tendency for under correction, and also overcorrection. How do we find a balance between the two without subjecting the patient to excessive surgery? The main aim of flatfeet correction is to achieve a good hindfoot alignment. Many biomechanical problems that cause symptoms are solved as long as the hindfoot is brought out of valgus. In this talk, I will introduce my pre-operative radiological evaluation (FACO) and how I make use of this radiological view to help in my decision making.
